Ovarian cyst

Adenomyosis

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac found inside or on the ovaries. It is common for women to develop them at some point in their lives. In most cases, they do not cause any symptoms or discomfort, so they go undetected, disappearing without medical intervention over time. Therefore, ovarian cysts are usually only discovered during routine pelvic exams or ultrasounds.

Almost all ovarian cysts occur naturally, as part of the ovulation cycle, and they usually disappear on their own. However, women can experience cyst-related problems in rare circumstances. In addition to triggering severe abdominal pain, functional cysts can rupture, causing internal bleeding.

The other types of cysts are called pathological cysts, which come in several forms.

  • Dermoid cyst: A dermoid cyst can grow quite large because it contains unwanted tissues, such as hair, skin, or teeth , a dermoid cyst can grow quite large because it contains unwanted tissues, such as hair, skin, or teeth.
  • Cystadenomas: An ovarian cystadenoma is a sac filled with either mucous or watery liquid that develops from cells on the outer layer of the ovary.

In both cases, ovarian cysts will need to be surgically removed.

However, unless one of the ovaries is removed if the cysts are very large, complex, or cancerous, this surgery should not affect fertility. For the sake of preventing complications, it is highly recommended that surgery be performed before pregnancy.
