What is MACS?

MACS is a technique used to separate and filter out apoptotic (programmed to die) sperm cells. Apoptotic sperm cells are tagged with para-magnetic microbeads and then separated using a customized magnet, ensuring high-quality sperms are used for fertility treatments.

Who can opt for MACS?

MACS is beneficial for:

  • Men with high levels of DNA fragmentation
  • Couples undergoing IVF or ICSI
  • Patients with very low sperm count and motility

What are the prerequisites for MACS?

  • An initial semen analysis to gauge overall sperm health
  • A fresh or thawed semen sample for the procedure
