The Role of Gadgets in Fertility

We live in a world where technology has made our lives more convenient and easier. The invention of portable devices and gadgets has made our lives so fortunate that we can no longer imagine a time without them. Yet do you know that these gadgets can harm our bodies in many other ways as well? There is evidence that gadgets such as smartphones and laptops affect everything from our sleep to the way we behave.

Over the past couple of decades, fertility rates have declined globally. Experts say that we are partly responsible for the rise in infertility due to the gadgets and devices around us. In this article, we will examine some of the most commonly used gadgets that have been proven harmful to human reproductive health.

1) Smartphones:

The majority of people these days own at least one Smartphone. The ease of use and comfort of smartphones have rendered landline phones useless. But these phones use cellular towers that can connect to 3G and 4G networks. The electromagnetic radiation emitted by smartphones and towers can adversely affect fertility. Smartphones emit radiofrequency (electromagnetic radiation) between 825 MHz and 915 MHz. Thus, Smartphone radiation can damage the DNA of sperm and cause damage to the chromosomes.

2) Using a cordless phone:

There is a double threat of radiofrequency radiation from cordless phones in comparison to smartphones. Research has shown that cordless phone base stations can emit 6 Volts per meter. Researchers have declared this level to be 10 times more dangerous than a Smartphone’s radio frequency. There has been a drastic decrease in the use of cordless phones over the past few years, which is a good thing.

3) Using laptops:

Smartphones and cordless phones are not exposed to the same radiation risks as laptops and tablets. Tablets and laptops are dangerous due to the heat they produce. A person usually places these gadgets on their lap and the heat they produce penetrates the body, damaging the heat-sensitive sperm.

Although laptops do not emit harmful electromagnetic radiation, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and smartphones that are used with them do.

4) Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

It is known that all wireless gadgets that work on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi emit radiation similar to a Smartphone. Scientists believe that these wireless technologies may produce ill effects similar to those produced by smartphones, although there is little information on their long-term effects. The radiation produced by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is similar to that generated by smartphones, but is much weaker and is therefore less hazardous.

⮚ Taking precautions when using gadgets

It is almost impossible to escape technology and these gadgets in today’s world. Despite this, we can certainly take some measures to safeguard ourselves against the ill effects of these gadgets.

It is impossible to live without a Smartphone these days. The first step would be to reduce Smartphone usage as much as possible. Use a stand or table when using gadgets that produce heat, such as laptops and tablets. At the least, it would be wise to place a barrier between the laptop and the body.

On Final Word:

Cell phones and laptops have become a part of our daily lives, and we may not even be able to imagine life without them. You need to recognize that they have the potential to negatively affect your chances of having a child. These gadgets need to be used carefully and responsibly to avoid affecting your dreams of having a family.
