How to Keep Track of Your Ovulation Period
Most women do not know that they can only become pregnant on certain days during their monthly cycle. Their chances of becoming pregnant increase if they have sexual relations during those days. The days following ovulation are the most fertile for an egg to be fertilized by male sperm.
The majority of women don’t even understand what ovulation is. For them to know when they are ovulating, they need information on how to detect ovulation.
What is ovulation?
It is a period of your menstrual cycle during which the matured ovarian follicle releases the egg. During this process, the egg travels down the fallopian tube to meet the sperm.
When am I ovulating, and why should I know it?
If you are considering becoming a mother, you should know the changes in your body that are positive for conception. To get pregnant, it is important to know when the ‘OVULATING PERIOD’ begins; it gives you an idea of the best time to conceive. For women with irregular menstrual cycles, predicting your ‘OVULATING PERIOD’ may be challenging. In this case, a fertility specialist is likely to be necessary.
Here are six ways to determine whether you are ovulating:
1. Keep track of your calendar by marking it:-
Tracking your menstrual calendar will help you identify the correct dates and predict when you are ovulating. Sexual activity is recommended every other day, especially during the fertile window. This period occurs five days before ovulation begins. This helps the sperm wait for your egg to get fertilized.
If you have a 28-day menstrual cycle, your fertile window begins on day 11 and you ovulate most often on day 16, your chances for getting pregnant will be greater if you have sexual contact every other day between days 11 and 16.
2. Observe ‘Mittelschmerz’:-
In German, ‘Mittelschmerz‘ means ‘middle pain’. It is a medical term for ‘pain during ovulation’ or ‘mid-cycle pain’. Your lower abdomen will be painful and uncomfortable; this can be the monthly reminder that your eggs are leaving your ovaries and that fertile time has begun.
3. Observe your body for any changes:-
Estrogen is released by the ovaries. Your ovaries release eggs when estrogen levels increase and your body makes progesterone, which raises your body temperature. You will know when to expect your period and when to ovulate when you track your body temperature every morning before you get out of bed.
4. Monitor Your Mucus Changes:-
During ovulation, you can observe your cervical mucus being clear and slippery, the consistency of an egg white. It is the best indication that you are ovulating.
5. Keep an eye on your cervical position:-
When you are fertile the position of the cervix changes. The position does not remain constant throughout the day. It is therefore important to check your cervix each day at the same time. You would feel your cervix low and hard when you are not fertile. Your cervix is soft, high, open, and wet if you are fertile.
6. Try an Ovulation Predictor Kit:-
Before the estimated day of ovulation, test with an ovulation predictor kit. If your cycle has a typical 28-day pattern, then you can test on day 10 of your cycle. If the results of the test are positive, it is obvious that you will ovulate within 24 to 36 hours.
These six methods can help you determine when you are ovulating and may also indicate when the correct days to have sexual intercourse. During these days, couples can schedule their activities. Before seeking medical treatment for infertility, couples should investigate their own fertility potential. There is no doubt that awareness can prevent a lot of emotional trauma, and of course, save a lot of money as well!
